Cat's Eye Pub 1-6-09 Idle Americans

Cat's Eye Pub
1730 Thames St.
Fells Point
Baltimore, MD

For a shitty, rainy Tuesday in January, this was a pretty good gig. We did a lot in the tip jar, I got my jar tipped, and (as usual at Cat's Eye) everyone came to dance.

Special appearances were made by Bonnie Boswell from Waterfront (who danced her ass off), Nelson who gave me a CD he had promised, Billy Hogg saw me electric for the first time, and the crazy-haired guy from WTF who seemed to really dig us.

But, the night was stolen by Josh Lieberman, the pimp of the Cat's Eye, for having the two finest looking women there.

We played a solid set, song after song. From what I remember. Which is not a whole lot. Apparently, I ended the night by saying to Scott, "See ya later, FATSO!"

Next: Dance Wednesday @ Bangkok Blues

  1. Matt, if I can do nothing in this lifetime but bring fine looking women to your gigs... well then, sir, I will have lived a good life.

[And probably listened to a lot of good music, blown out my ear drums, and consumed a lot of Boh!]

  2. I'm not sure braggin' on getting plastered at gigs is the formula for a long-term career as a workin' musician .... just sayin ...

  4. Thanks for the comment(s) Anonymous(s). My intent in starting this blog was to give an accurate picture of what my gigs are like...and this one involved me drinking. Not to the point of falling down or even forgetting lyrics or flubbing parts, but drinking. I realize that sex and drugs (or alcohol) are not the most important part of the trinity, but they're fun and part of the reason to be out there doing it. Most entertainment has been so white-washed of dirty words, naughty bits, and lewdness in the past few decades that I want to contribute to anything that brings them back. I realize that sounded defensive, but I did genuinely mean to say thanks for your concern. So, next time I see y'all, first round's on me.
